10/5 - WILLAMETTE 5-WAY: Bruins Finish 3rd in as Many Fall Matches in Willamette Tourney
McMINNVILLE, Ore. - Posting their third third-place finish in as many matches this fall, the George Fox University Bruins shot an 18-hole four-player score of 371 in the Willamette University 5-Way Women's Golf Tournament Friday afternoon here at the Illahe Hills Country Club.
Brittany Zefkeles led the Bruins for the second straight match with a score of 42-47=89, earning 7th place among individuals. Other counting scores for the Bruins came from Mandy Cameron with a 46-46=92, Whitney Clunes with a 46-49=95, and Brianna Nap with a 45-50-95. Cameron placed 9th place, while Clunes and Nap tied for for 11th.
Pacific University took team honors, edging Linfield College 355-356. After George Fox's 371 came host Willamette with 452. Lewis & Clark College, which usually participates in the 5-Way events sponsored by the Oregon teams in the Northwest Conference, did not enter anyone this time.
Brynn Hardus of Linfield took medalist honors with a 38-46=84, one stroke ahead of Pacific's Kelly Hartley, who carded a 40-45=85.
The Bruins return to action Sunday, hosting their own George Fox 5-Way Tournament at 12:00 noon at the Chehalem Glenn Golf Course in Newberg.
