10/20 - NWC FALL CLASSIC: Bruins Third at 367 After First Day of NWC Fall Classic
MISSION, Ore. - Led by a pair of first-round 90's by Brittany Zefkeles and Brianna Nap, the George Fox University Bruins stand in third place after the first day of play in the Northwest Conference Women's Golf Fall Classic Saturday afternoon here at the Wildhorse Resort Golf Course.
Pacific University has the first-round lead at 343, only five strokes ahead of Whitworth University's 348. George Fox is next at 367, followed by Linfield College at 374, Pacific Lutheran University at 378, the University of Puget Sound at 380, and Willamette University at 441. Lewis & Clark College and Whitman College have individuals participating, but do not have the necessary four players for earning team scores.
Kelly Hart of Pacific, with a nine-over-par 81 on the par 72, 5,810-yard course, holds a one-stroke lead over three others: Kaylin Carlson of Whitworth, Brynn Hurdus of Linfield, and Angela Grossklaus of PLU. Zefkeles and Nap are tied for 12th.
Other counting Bruin scores after the first round include a 93 by Mandy Cameron and a 94 by Whitney Clunes. Right behind are Christine Collier at 95 and Nicole Hudson at 96.
The second and final day of the NWC Fall Classic tees off Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
