COACH ANDY HETHERINGTON
Andy Hetherington (St. John's, U.K., '76) is 27-67-4 (.296) in his 6th season as the women's soccer coach at George Fox. He was 123-20-5 in 10 seasons as a high school coach in the Portland, Ore., area before taking the position at George Fox. Click here for the complete bio on Coach Hetherington.
BRUIN BITS:
* Four Bruins Earn NWC HM Honors in First Two Weeks
In the first two weeks of the new season, four Bruins received honorable mention in consideration for Northwest Conference Player of the Week honors.
For Aug. 27-Sept. 2, forward Jenny McKinsey was honorable mention for Offensive Player of the Week. She scored the winning goal unassisted in overtime to give the Bruins a season-opening 2-1 win over The Master's College at home on Sept. 1. Goalkeeper Jessica Cardwell kept the Bruins in the game with seven saves in 70 minutes and stopped a penalty kick six minutes into the second half that would have given The Master's the lead, and was a candidate for Defensive Player of the Week.
For Sept. 3-9, Nicole Akiu earned Offensive Player of the Week consideration with a goal and two assists. She assisted on the first goal and scored the second as the Bruins dropped a 3-2 decision at Eastern Mennonite on Saturday, then assisted on the Bruins' second goal in a 4-0 win at Bridgewater on Sunday. Sally Alway started in goal and made three saves in 67 minutes to earn the win at Bridgewater, receiving mention for Defensive Player of the Week.
