COACH ANDY HETHERINGTON
Andy Hetherington (St. John's, U.K., '76) is 33-70-4 (.327) in his 6th season as the women's soccer coach at George Fox. He was 123-20-5 in 10 seasons as a high school coach in the Portland, Ore., area before taking the position at George Fox. Click here for the complete bio on Coach Hetherington.

* Stevens Earns BAA, NWC Honors; Cardwell HM for NWC
Senior forward Amber Stevens has been named the Bruin Athletic Association Women's Athlete of the Week for the second time and the Northwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the first time for Oct. 1-7 as the Bruins went 2-1. In a 7-0 win over Simpson (Calif.) on Oct. 1, she scored two goals and assisted on another in the Bruins' highest scoring output in four years. In a 3-2 come-from-behind overtime win at Linfield on Oct. 6, she scored the Bruins' first goal and assisted on the winning header by Kirsten Cardwell in the 101st minute. She was the only Bruin to get multiple shots with two in a 1-0 loss at 5th-ranked Puget Sound on Oct. 7. She ranks 3rd in the NWC in goals (7) and points (18), 4th in shots (50), and 5th in assists (4).
Senior goalkeeper Jessica Cardwell received honorable mention for Northwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week for Oct. 1-7. She posted her 16th career shutout, tying the GFU all-time record held by Meghan Gibson, in a 7-0 win over Simpson (Calif.) on Oct. 1, making three saves, had six saves in a 3-2 overtime win at Linfield on Oct. 6, and made five saves in a 1-0 loss at 5th-ranked Puget Sound on Oct. 7. She ranks 4th in the conference in save pct. (.833) and shutouts (3), 5th in goals against avg. (1.18), and 6th in saves (60).

A 2-1 week that included wins over Simpson and Linfield and a one-goal loss to No. 5 Puget Sound enabled the George Fox Bruins to climb one spot to 6th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas NCAA Division III West Region rankings of Oct. 9. Puget Sound (11-0) remains the No. 1 in the region, followed by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (10-3), Whitworth (10-1), Occidental (7-2), California-Santa Cruz (6-2-1), George Fox (8-4), Redlands (4-3-3), California State-East Bay (8-3-1), Pomona-Pitzer (5-4-2), and Linfield (5-5-1).

- Jessica Cardwell tied the George Fox career record for goalkeeper shutouts when she posted her 16th in the Bruins' 7-0 win over Simpson (Calif.) on Oct. 1. She is tied with Meghan Gibson (16, 1997-98).
- Amber Stevens had a goal and an assist in the Bruins' 3-2 win at Linfield on Oct. 6, bringing her career totals to 55 points, 22 goals, and 11 assists. She passed Staci Morris (54, 1994-97) for 4th on the all-time GFU points lists, broke a tie for 4th in career goals with Morris and Katrina Crabb (21, 1995-97), and is now tied with Julie Alexander (11, 2004-06) and Ashleigh Hughes (11, 1997-2000) for 7th in assists ...
