Puget Sound is ranked 4th in the latest NSCAA/NCAA Division III national poll and 1st in the West Region ... The Loggers have clinched at least a share of their sixth straight NWC title and have already earned the NWC's automatic berth in the NCAA National Tournament ... COACH ANDY HETHERINGTON

Andy Hetherington (St. John's, U.K., '76) is 36-72-5 (.341) in his 6th season as the women's soccer coach at George Fox. He was 123-20-5 in 10 seasons as a high school coach in the Portland, Ore., area before taking the position at George Fox. Click here for the complete bio on Coach Hetherington.

* McKinsey BAA Top Athlete; McKinsey, Cardwell HM in NWC

Sophomore forward Jenny McKinsey has been named the Bruin Athletic Association Women's Athlete of the Week for Oct. 22-28, and received honorable mention for Northwest Conference Women's Offensive Player of the Week as well. In a 4-1 win over Lewis & Clark on Oct. 27, she scored two goals on five shots, then followed it up with two goals and two assists in a 50-1 win over Pacific on Oct. 28. She had the game-winning goals in both games, giving her five on the season which is tied for 2nd in the conference. She also ranks 2nd in the NWC in points (28) and assists (8), 3rd in goals (10), and 6th in shots (66). This is her third time to be nominated for NWC honors this season.

Senior goalkeeper Jessica Cardwell received honorable mention for Northwest Conference Women's Defensive Player of the Week for Oct. 22-28. In a 4-1 win over Lewis & Clark on Oct. 27, she had 4 saves and allowed no goals in 65 minutes, then made 6 saves in a 5-1 win over Pacific on Oct. 8, boosting her season record to 8-6-1. She ranks 4th in the NWC in shutouts (4), 5th in goals against avg. (1.32) and save pct. (.802), and 6th in saves (85). A six-time nominee for NWC honors this season, she is the Bruins' all-time record-holder in shutouts (17).

* Polls: Bruins Tied for 8th in D-III West Region Rankings

After a one-week absence, the George Fox Bruins have returned to the top 10 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas NCAA Division III West Region rankings of Oct. 30, climbing into a tie for 8th after a 2-0 week that included wins over Lewis & Clark and Pacific. The Bruins have been ranked as high as 6th in the West Region this season. The West top 10 include Puget Sound (18-0, 4th nationally), Whitworth (15-2), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (13-4), California-Santa Cruz (11-2-2), Occidental (9-5), Whitman (9-6-3), Redlands (8-5-3), George Fox (11-6-1), Pomona-Pitzer (8-6-2), and Chapman (8-7-2).

* Bruins Secure Winning Season and Best Under Hetherington

Perseverance has paid off for the Bruins and coach Andy Hetherington. After five years of rebuilding a foundation for the women's program, Hetherington picked up his first winning season when the Bruins swept Lewis & Clark and Pacific Oct. 27-28. Now 11-6-1 overall, the Bruins have their first winning record since the 2000 team went 13-5, the next-to-last season under the first coach in Bruin women's history, Byron Shenk. It is the most wins for a Bruin team under Hetherington (the 2004 team went 9-11). With an 8-5-1 Northwest Conference record, the Bruins also have their best season in the league since the 2000 team went 11-3 and finished 2nd. This year's team is guaranteed no worse than a 4th-place finish, and could vault into 3rd with a strong finish and a slip by 3rd-place Whitman.

In Northwest Conference offensive stats through Oct. 30, George Fox is 3rd in shots (294), shots per game (16.33), points (108), points per game (6.00), goals (40), goals per game (2.22), assists (28), assists per game (1.56), 5th in corner kicks (66) ... Defensively, the Bruins are 4th in goals against avg. (1.24), 5th in shutouts (5, T), goals allowed (23), 7th in saves (98), saves per game (5.44) ...

* Career Lists: Stevens Advances to Top 4 in Points, Goals, Assists

- Jessica Cardwell set the George Fox career record for goalkeeper shutouts when she posted her 17th in the Bruins' 0-0 double-overtime tie at Willamette on Oct. 11. She had been tied at 16 with Meghan Gibson, who had that many in a two-year career (1997-98).
- Amber Stevens had two goals and two assists on the week, bringing her career totals to 24 goals, 14 assists, and 62 points. She is 4th all-time at George Fox in goals, 3rd in assists, and 4th in total points. Ahead in each category are Brooke Erickson (65 points, 29 goals, 2002-03) and Gegi Bonera (15 assists, 1992-95). Karli Holub is the all-time leader in all three stats (102 points, 42 goals, 18 assists, 1998-2000) ...
