3/11 - LINFIELD 9, GEORGE FOX 0: Bruins Swept by Yamhill County Rival Wildcats
McMINNVILLE, Ore. - In a matchup of Northwest Conference Yamhill County rivals, the Linfield College Wildcats cruised to a 9-0 victory over the George Fox University Bruins in women's tennis here at the Linfield outdoor courts Sunday afternoon, dropping only nine games in the process.
In doubles, the Wildcats picked up wins by Sallie Katter and Jeanna Parks over the Bruins' Valerie Ring and Alayna Shaw 8-0 at #1, Molly Nelson and Kelli Sides over Lindsay Hagler and Leilani Jackson 8-1 at #2, and Melissa Maebori and Emma Becker over Brittany Ekstrom and Linsey Wages 8-0 at #3.
Singles winners for Linfield were Becca Johnson over George Fox's Ring 6-0, 6-0 at #1, Megan Rodgers over Hagler 6-1, 6-1 at #2, Sides over Rebecca Crinnion 6-0, 6-0 at #3, Katter over Jackson 6-0, 6-0 at #4, Nelson over Ekstrom 6-3, 6-1 at #5, and Parks over Shaw 6-2, 6-0 at #6.
George Fox (1-8, NWC 1-7) returns to action Friday, hosting the University of Puget Sound in a conference match at 2:30 p.m. Linfield (7-1, NWC 7-0) also plays Friday, visiting Whitworth College for an NWC match at 3 p.m.
