The Graduate Department of Counseling at George Fox University operates the Northwest Center for Play Therapy Studies (NWCPTS).
The Certificate in Play Therapy program is designed to provide the knowledge and skills to competently provide individual, group, and family play therapy. In addition, the program is intended to prepare a student to become a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) through the Association for Play Therapy (APT), an international organization established in 1982.
This program is open to students who have completed a bachelor's degree in a mental health field and a graduate course equivalent to COUN 501 Principles and Techniques of Counseling I and who are enrolled or have graduated from a master's or doctoral program in a mental health field.
