The Music Education Audition/Interview will consist of:
Why do you wish to teach music?
What are the possible benefits of studying music?
What is the best way for someone to study music?
Do you believe that music is a “core subject” within the public school curriculum? Be prepared to defend your answer.
How do you know if students benefit from musical instruction?
What should be at the center of classroom concerns and why?
If you are invited to compete at Scholarship Competition, you will need to submit the Music Scholarship Application and two Music Recommendation Forms by February 27.
Please note that some auditions may take place outside of the allotted time frame on the Scholarship Competition schedule. If your interview is scheduled outside the allotted time, the Music Dept. will communicate that with you ahead of time.
Music Education scholarship recipients are required to be enrolled in a major music ensemble and take applied lessons each semester.
