Annual Scholarship Fund

George Fox University students in the School of Education are making an impact on the future as they prepare for careers of influence as teachers, counselors and administrators.
Jared Nagreen
Class of 2010
Elementary Education major
In Jared's words:
"I'm so grateful to have been the recipient for two years of scholarships made possible by university donors. I've chosen teaching because I want to have a career with lasting impact. I plan to incorporate working with clay into the elementary classes I teach – I see it as symbolic of the molding and shaping of lives."
Aubrie Langenhuizen
2009 Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education
First grade teacher at Elk Creek Elementary in New Castle, Colo.
In Aubrie’s words:
"George Fox is a community-oriented environment that cares about your needs and values you as a person. From residential life, to professors, to the people in your hall, everyone is stretching you and opening your mind to different ways of thinking and different ways of seeing God. They provide many opportunities to travel and give help to people around the world while also offering a great education.
"I was stretched in all areas by professors, classmates and God. Most importantly the influential people in my life helped me to see the real me and who I wanted to be in the future.
"My four years at George Fox changed my life. After studying abroad in Paraguay, being an RA, student teaching, and participating in clubs I have a greater appreciation for the people of this world. I gained the self-identity I went into college seeking to gain. I see my work as an opportunity to serve God.
"I am still learning new things every day and have struggles, but I feel confident as a teacher."
Scott Gragg
2008 Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT)
Math teacher and football coach at Silverton High School in Silverton, Ore.
Scott Gragg works with young people every day, shaping them into future leaders. He came to George Fox to get his Master of Arts in Teaching degree and found the program to be, “relevant, meaningful, and convenient.”
In Scott’s words:
"George Fox’s MAT experience was excellent. As a whole, the program prepared me for my role as an educator. The faculty, students, and curriculum displayed a Christ-centered emphasis that impacted me significantly. Fox does an excellent job of equipping the whole person for life after instruction. The skills developed at George Fox are used every day while teaching, coaching and parenting."
Julie Stubblefield
2006 Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT)
Seventh grade language arts teacher at Amity School District in Amity, Ore.
In Julie’s words:
"I have been aware of George Fox University’s reputation for excellence in education for most of my adult life. When I decided to return to school and reenter the work force after having stayed home with my three children for 12 years, George Fox’s MAT program seemed to fit all my needs. I needed a reputable school close to home with a class schedule that would work with my busy family life. The fact that the university’s MAT program is Best Practice-based and Christ-centered added to the attractiveness of it like icing on a cake.
"George Fox provided me with a way to pursue a lifelong dream I had almost given up on because of my age. George Fox was part of my very important second chance. Because of the positive, professional, and caring staff, the Christ-centered relevant curriculum and the flexible MAT class schedule and payment options, I am now living a dream. I get to spend my days with eager, reluctant, never-a-dull-moment young people, each one valuable, each one deserving of my best efforts, each with the potential to impact the world. I get to be a teacher."
