Project & Program Giving
For decades Jim and Lila Miller together chose to play a significant role in the advancement of George Fox University. Although Jim passed away August 8, 2006 their support for the university continues. Their generous gifts have not only contributed to the provision of excellent facilities on campus (e.g. the Jim and Lila Miller Gymnasium, featuring three basketball courts and seating for 2,500; the Jim and Lila Miller balcony of Stevens Center), but have provided for annual scholarship awards for incoming freshmen with a minimum GPA of 3.0 who have demonstrated exceptional characteristics through co-curricular activities, student government, or in the local church or community. Jim also served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the university and before he died they made a significant commitment toward funding the $4.3 million expansion and renovation of Hoover Academic Building.
"Since the time of our first association with George Fox University, when our son was enrolled in the 1960's, we've chosen to support the university financially because of its consistent high-quality education and Christian values. We're delighted that our granddaughter is currently a student at Fox - there's no other school like it!" ~ Jim and Lila Miller (September 2005)
Whether supporting capital projects or scholarships, contributing to the Annual Fund, or helping grow the endowment, faithful stewards like Jim and Lila Miller are evidence of God's continuing provision for the ministry and work of George Fox University.
