Giving to Scholarships
Providing resources ... rewarding achievement ... changing lives
More than 80 percent of George Fox's traditional undergraduate students receive some form of financial aid, much of which is provided by generous people like you.
There are many ways to provide scholarship assistance to students. We invite you to find the type of scholarship that best fits your individual interests and abilities.
For more information about these scholarships and applicable deadlines, contact the development office at 503-554-2115.
Endowed scholarships
Named Scholarships - A gift of $25,000 or more can establish a permanent scholarship fund that typically bears the name of the donor or another person the donor wishes to honor (donors may take up to five years to accumulate this minimum amount). Monies given to a named scholarship are invested with the university's endowed scholarship funds, with a percentage of the annual income generated used to support the student recipient(s). The donor may help set specific criteria for student recipients, who are chosen by the university on an annual basis.
Memorial Gifts - Donors may choose to make gifts of any amount to the university in remembrance of another person. Unless designated to a specific fund, these gifts are placed in the endowed scholarship fund and are used for student financial aid.
Annual scholarships
Named Scholarship Awards - A donor who commits to give $1,000 or more for at least five consecutive years may choose to establish a scholarship that bears the name of the donor or another person the donor wishes to honor. The donor may help set specific criteria for annual student recipients, who are chosen by the university.
Annual Scholarship Fund - Gifts of any size can be contributed to the general scholarship fund that provides essential scholarship assistance to current students. While these funds are unrestricted in nature and no individual recipients are named, gifts to this fund significantly lessen the tuition burden of many students.
