Playoffs Game 2: Casey's Time at Aloha Comes to Close
Coach Chris Casey's chance at a second Oregon Class 6A state football championship slipped away Friday as his Aloha High School Warriors fell to West Salem, 59-46. Once again star running back Thomas Tyner fueled the Aloha offense, scoring four rushing touchdowns and adding another two trips to the end zone on kickoff returns. But this time another running back stole the show. West Salem's Ambrose Soh rushed for 193 yards and six touchdowns to lead his team to victory.

The loss marked the end of an era for Casey, who turned around the struggling Aloha football program and eventually led his team to a state championship in 2010. In early 2013 Casey will officially leave his high school coaching days behind and take on a new challenge - launching the new George Fox University football program.

Playoffs Game 1: Aloha Gets Scare, Squeaks by Glencoe 38-35
It wasn't the dominant performance most expected, but in the end Coach Casey's Aloha Warriors found a way to advance in the 6A state football playoffs. Star running back Thomas Tyner had another spectacular performance, scampering for 438 yards and four rushing touchdowns, but it was a pass play that won the game. With 2:13 remaining in the contest and Aloha trailing 35-31, Tyner caught a 24-yard pass from quarterback Nick Krautscheid and barely made it into the end zone to give Aloha a 38-35 lead.

"We just persevered," Casey told The Oregonian after the game. "I tell you, you'd like to have one easier than this. That's tough. But it's great to win like this because it prepares you. It makes you mentally and physically tougher."
