Peter Bouteneff

Peter Bouteneff  (http://www.svots.edu/team/dr-peter-c-bouteneff) is associate professor of systematic theology at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary. Having completed his doctoral studies at Oxford under the mentorship of Kallistos Ware, he has served as an interpreter of Orthodox Christianity within his tradition and ecumenically. Author of numerous articles and seven books, including Daily Readings in Orthodox Spirituality (1997) and Beginnings: Ancient Christian Readings of the Biblical Creation Narratives (2008), his book, Sweeter than Honey: Orthodox Thinking on Dogma and Truth (2006), casts valuable light on the Orthodox approach to corporate discernment. Under his service as Executive Secretary of the World Council of Churches Faith and Order Commission, the WCC “voted not to vote,” adopting a consensus model of decision making at their general meetings (see www.georgefox.edu/discernment/QRTGrace.pdf).
