The mission of the English Language Institute (ELI) at George Fox University is to develop the language and academic skills of students whose native language is not English and to raise their level of cultural and spiritual awareness in order to prepare them for academic and social success at George Fox University.

The programs of the English Language Institute are intensive, focus on academic English skills, and emphasize excellence. They are ideal for students with high motivation and great potential for academic success.

Successful completion of the advanced level in the English Language Institute satisfies English proficiency requirements for mainstream classes and courses at George Fox University. Students earn academic credits for advanced and intermediate level intensive English language courses. Advanced-level students take a content course for academic credit along with intensive English language courses.

The English Language Institute is a program within the Department of Communication Arts at George Fox. Students in the institute are integrated into life at the university. The George Fox campus, located in the small town of Newberg, Ore., is safe and friendly, with access to recreation areas and urban Portland.
