Potentially explosive chemical found, Newberg classes canceled

A George Fox University chemistry lab coordinator on Tuesday morning (April 13) identified a bottle of picric acid that had dried and become potentially explosive, causing the evacuation of several buildings and the cancellation of George Fox classes in Newberg.

The material has been removed by hazardous materials personnel.

Classes on quad side of the Newberg campus were canceled until 5 p.m.
