How is the face of the American workforce changing? And, particularly, how has the role of women in that workforce evolved in recent years?
Those were the questions addressed at the 2009 Women's Conference in Long Beach, Calif., in October. The event highlighted the recently released Shriver Report, a study conducted by California first lady Maria Shriver that found that women now make up half of all American workers.
An article in a recent issue of the Christian Science Monitor covered the conference and included insight from George Fox sociology professor Melanie Hulbert, who observed that "we live in a culture with a new generation of people that continue to challenge and change the face of organizational life and practice."
