Alum Kelly Bachran upbeat after leaving 'Idol'

George Fox graduate Kelly Bachran is pursuing her dream of becoming the next Kelly Bachran's dream of becoming the next “American Idol” ended Feb. 17, but the 2008 George Fox graduate remains upbeat and, in her words, feels "super blessed."

Bachran was one of only 180 contestants to earn a “Golden Ticket to Hollywood” after auditioning in Denver, and she survived the first week of cuts in Hollywood and another cut on Tuesday, Feb. 16. In the end, she made it to the top 46 – in a singing competition that began with more than 100,000 contestants.

"Top 46 out of 110,000. I feel pretty good about that," she said on her Facebook page.

Bachran performed with her brother on a recent KPTV Channel 12 news broadcast.

Previously, Bachran was among those interviewed at the Denver auditions, featured on the “American Idol” site.

At George Fox, Bachran helped lead the chapel band for two years and worked on recording projects both on and off campus. In recent years, she has been doing solo work and singing with a cover band in Portland.
