Twelve George Fox University students are set to compete in the school’s 12th annual “Mr. Bruin” pageant at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, in Bauman Auditorium on the university’s Newberg campus.
The community is invited to come see contestants engage in a group dance, a mother/son activity, and a talent portion – all for the cause of charity. Proceeds from the event will go toward Shriners Hospitals for Children. Students scheduled to compete are Jon Archer, Kris Brown, Gabe Cortez, Adam Hunt, Willy Johnson, Rob Leslie, Joey Bianco, Jael Chambers, Mat Hollen, Motokazo Ito, Jesse Jongeward and Jon Moreland.
Tickets are $3 (pre-sale) or $5 at the door. Tickets or additional information are available by contacting organizer Anna Philipsen at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Past pageants annually have raised between $5,000 and $10,000 for various charities. Typically, 50 percent of each contestant’s total score is based on how much money he has raised individually for the charity prior to the pageant.
