Re-Boot Resource Event
George Fox University’s Graduate Department of Counseling will host a free resource event for individuals and families under financial distress as a result of unemployment or underemployment.
Re-Boot, a resources and encouragement fair, will be open between 6 and 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at the university’s Portland Center near Tigard. There is no cost to attend or park, and the public is invited to drop in anytime without an appointment. Childcare (ages 2 and up) also will be provided.
The evening will cover such topics as Internet job-hunting, cooking on a budget, bargain shopping secrets, community employment services, stress management strategies, and updating your resume. Also offered will be advice on how to explain financial hardships to children and how to function as a multigenerational household.
Sponsoring the event are two programs within the Graduate Department of Counseling – the Individual and Family Matters Counseling Center and the Trauma Response Institute.
“Many of us within the university wanted to help our communities during these uncertain times, and this is our way of doing so,” said Anna A. Berardi, director of the Trauma Response Institute. “Various organizations and George Fox staff members will set up information tables to describe the resources they offer or to actually offer resources right on the spot.”
The event will take place in the Portland Center’s Room 155. The center is located at 12753 S.W. 68th Ave., in Portland. For more information on the event or directions to the Portland Center, call 503-554-6100.
