All international students must provide documentation of English proficiency at the time of their admission to George Fox University. If no documentation is provided or English proficiency is below the listed admission stands, students will be enrolled in the English Language Institute (ELI). Students are enrolled in the ELI level appropriate to their English abilities based on TOEFL or IELTS scores or ELI placement tests.
Successful completion of the ELI's intensive English program is the ideal way to demonstrate an acceptable level of English language proficiency and qualifies students for admission as regular full-time students. Students who successfully complete the high advanced level of the ELI are exempted from the TOEFL or IELTS test requirements and therefore are encouraged to focus on developing their English in academic and social contexts, not preparing for the TOEFL.
