Kaleo: A conference for people who minister to youth - February 20, 2010 - George Fox University, Newberg Campus Featuring Dr. Chap Clark and Dr. Steve Sherwood

As a culture, we have been more invested in keeping our adult agendas and institutions viable and thriving than we are being a supportive community — even in church — for our kids. Therefore today’s young people experience a greater level of pain and stress than any previous generation.

To get below the surface, Chap Clark spent a year in a high school and interviewed dozens of students about everything from their families and social lives to their loneliness and insecurity. An alarming picture emerged: adults have abandoned kids to navigate the ever-lengthening and ever more difficult transition to adulthood on their own, and the results are troubling.

Chap Clark and Steve Sherwood will help us know how to respond to kids who have been abandoned and provide practical solutions for how to deal with the "prolonged adolescents" youth workers face in their own lives and in the lives of the students they serve.

Kaleo (“called”) is for people who minister to youth – pastors, parents, teachers, mentors and friends – who are called to be challenged to think and live differently for the sake Christ and the youth they love and lead.
