Semester in Ecuador Program

Program Overview ecuador
George Fox students can apply for a semester of Spanish immersion in Quito, the capitol of Ecuador. The Nazarene International Language Institute (NILI) is a study abroad program that offers culture, language, travel, and ministry as they challenge students to live out a Christian lifestyle. Ecuador is packed with new adventures from the Amazon, to the Andes Mountains, to the Galapagos Islands, and culture that is both rural and urban, and very diverse.

Course Content
Students will take language, history, and culture classes taught in Spanish. Student's knowledge of the language will be assessed during orientation, and will then be placed in the appropriate class level. Courses will also be taken in Christian faith and ministry, these classes are taught in English. There are only 5-6 students per class, so your professors will be able to provide you with individualized attention. Classes run four hours a day, five days a week, and lessons are reinforced with homework and practical living situations.

Additional Learning Opportunities
There is a lot to see in Ecuador and it's surrounding areas. Weekends will offer trips to highlighted national areas, service opportunities with local churches, as well as conferences, small groups, retreats, and more.

Application
The student will fill out two applications:

George Fox off-campus application form (obtained from the Center for Global Studies; or downloaded here).
Nazarene International Language Institute application (to be completed online here). An application fee must accompany your application.
*The NILI application should only be completed after being informed from the Director of Global Studies that you are accepted for an off-campus study semester.

Housing
Students will live on the NILI campus in two person dorms with a private bath. You will live, eat and socialize with Latin American seminary students. The campus has a dining hall, student lounge, library, recreational areas, laundry, and more.
