Prague, Czech Republic
This program is offered in collaboration with Veritas Christian Study Abroad at either Charles University or the University of Economics, Prague. Prague is known as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Since, 1992, Prague has been listed as a UNESCO world Heritage Site. It is home to nummerous theatres, galleries, musseums, and historical sites. Prague is located in the north-west of the Czech Republic and is located on the banks of the Vltava River. Prague ranked sixth in Triipadvisor's world list of best destinations.
Students are required to take a Global Missions Perspective course and an International Missions Practicum taught by local Veritas staff and three to four other courses from one of the two Universities. See the courses for example classes.
While studying in Prague the student will have several opportunities for excursions including trips to Cesky Krumlov, Kutna Hora, Terezin, Vienna, and Berlin. Of course there will also be those optional holiday self-lead trips to other European cities.
The student will fill out two applications:
• George Fox off-campus application
• Veritas Christian Study Abroad application* (An application fee must accompany your application)
* The Veritas Christian Study Abroad application should only be completed after being informed from the Director of Study Abroad that you are accepted for an off-campus study semester.
Students must be full-time undergraduates with junior or senior status, holding a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to apply. There is NO language requirement.
Because students remain enrolled at George Fox University while participating with Veritas, academic credit is awarded by George Fox. Students will typically take 16 credit hours. Students will be required to attend two pre-departure meetings, complete an online course evaluation, and attend a re-entry meeting upon their return. Students must see the transfer credit specialist in the registrar's office BEFORE they begin their semester off-campus.
All Veritas students live in furnished apartments near to public transport routes to the university. Meals and laundery service are not included. Typically students will share the apartment with one to four other Veritas students.
The student pays George Fox's standard tuition, room. and student fees (an additional fee is required to attend some programs). Participants continue to receive financial aid, including scholarships, since they are officially George Fox students. Round trip airfare is additional.
