Veritas in London
This program is offered in colloboration with Veritas Christian Study Abroad at the Roehampton University in London, England. London, considered by many to be the world's knowledge capital, is a place where you can meet people from every country around the world and still feel at home. Roehampton University is ranked by several publications as the best modern university in the UK. They have the only parkland campus in central London. They are an historic college stretching back almost 175 years. At the same time ehy area world class research institution. London itself is easy to get around in due to teh extensive underground system (The Tube). You will also receive free entrance to onver 100 museums and galleries.
Students are required to take a Science and Faith course and an International Missions/Service-learning practicum taught by local Veritas staff. The remainder of the courses will be taken at Roehampton University. For a sample list of courses go to courses.
The program offers a variety of opportunities for travel including (but not limited to) Stonehednge and Bath, Stratford-Upon-Avon and Warwick Castle, Edinburgh and Loch Ness (optional).
The student will fill out two applications:
• George Fox off-campus application form
• Veritas Christian Study Abroad application* (An application fee must accompany your application)
* The Veritas Christian Study Abroad application should only be completed after being informed from the George Fox Director of Study Abroad that you are accepted for an off-campus study semester.
Students must be full-time undergraduates with junior or senior status, holding a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to apply. There is NO language requirement.
Because students remain enrolled at George Fox University while participating with Veritas, academic credit is awarded by George Fox. Students will typically take 16 credit hours. Students will be required to attend two pre-departure meetings, complete an online course evaluation, and attend a re-entry meeting upon their return. Students must see the transfer credit specialist in the Registrars office BEFORE they begin their semester off-campus.
Students will live in "en-suite" style dorm rooms with British and other international students located on the Roehampton campus. Laundry and cooking facilities are shared with approximately 5-8 students.
The student pays George Fox's standard tuition, room and board, and student fees (an additional fee is required to attend some programs). Participants continue to receive financial aid, including scholarships, since they are officially George Fox students. Round trip airfare is additional.
