Daystar University is located outside of Nairobi Kenya. It is a fully accreditated Christian university of a approximately 1,500 students. Undergraduate students are housed on the Athi River Campus built on 300 acres of land 40 kilometers from Nairobi. George Fox students wll have the opportunity to study with Africa students from across East Africa.
It offers a variety of majors and courses including, but not limited to, Peace and International Studies, Economics, Communication, Language and Performing Arts, Psychology, Counseling and Child Development, Computer Science and Science and Engineering. All George Fox students are elibible to apply to Daystar University. Courses can be transferred back to George Fox either as electives, General Education, or as major requirements.
The student will fill out two applications:
• George Fox off-campus application form (obtained from the Center for Study Abroad; or downloaded here).
• Daystar University application (can be obtained here).
*The Daystar application should only be completed after being informed from the Director of Study Abroad that you are accepted for an off-campus study semester.
Students must be full-time undergraduates with junior or senior status, holding a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to apply. There is NO language requirement.
Because students remain enrolled at George Fox University while participating at the Daystar University, academic credit is awarded by George Fox. Students will typically take 16 credit hours. Students will be required to attend two pre-departure meetings, complete an online course evaluation, and attend a re-entry meeting upon their return. Students must see the transfer credit specialist in the Registrars office BEFORE they begin their semester off-campus.
Students will be housed in student dorms with African students.
The student pays George Fox's standard tuition, room and board, and student fees (an additional fee is required to attend some programs). Participants continue to receive financial aid, including scholarships, since they are officially George Fox students. Round trip airfare is additional.
