Veritas in Cusco

Program Overview
This program is offered in colloboration with Veritas Christian Study Abroad at the Universidad de Salamanca Cursos Internacionales in Cusco, Peru. Cusco is situated on the Southeastern side of Peru, crossing through the Andes mountains. The city of Cusco is known as the archaeological capital of the Americas and is a short distance from Machu Picchu one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Courses
Students are required to take a Cross-Cultural Leadership course and an International Missions/Service-learning practicum taught by local Veritas staff. The remainder of the courses will be taken at the Universidad de Salamanca Cursos Internacionales.  For a sample list of courses go to courses.  Scroll to the bottom to see a partial list of courses taught in English.    

Excursions
Students will have the opportunity to travel  to several locatoins, including, Machu Picchu, Arequipa, Puerto Maldonado, Puno and Lake Titicaca.

Application
The student will fill out two applications:
• George Fox off-campus application form
• Veritas Christian Study Abroad application* (An application fee must accompany your application)
* The Veritas Christian Study Abroad application should only be completed after being informed from the George Fox Director of Study Abroad that you are accepted for an off-campus study semester.

Eligibility
Students must be full-time undergraduates with junior or senior status, holding a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to apply. APPROVED FOR SPANISH MAJORS. There is NO language requirement for non-Spanish majors.

Credits
Because students remain enrolled at George Fox University while participating with Veritas, academic credit is awarded by George Fox. Students will typically take 16 credit hours. Students will be required to attend two pre-departure meetings, complete an online course evaluation, and attend a re-entry meeting upon their return. S
tudents must see the transfer credit specialist in the Registrars office BEFORE they begin their semester off-campus. 

Housing
Students will live in homestays with Peruvian families.  Students will be provided with three meals per day (except on Veritas excursion days) and laundry service once per week for the official duration of the program. This is included in the Veritas program cost. Students usually share a bedroom with another Veritas student, but have the option of paying extra to secure an individual room

Costs
The student pays George Fox's standard tuition, room and board, and student fees (an additional fee is required to attend some programs).  Participants continue to receive financial aid, including scholarships, since they are officially George Fox students.  Round trip airfare is additional.
