STEP Registration (U.S. Dept. of State)

World travel George Fox University requests that all students and personnel involved in university-related international travel sign-up for the U.S. Department of State's Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) and enter related itineraries.

The STEP program has been created as a free resource for U.S. citizens meant to aid consular services in locating and assisting people in times of large-scale crisis or personal need during travel.

US Embassy, Prague - courtesy of WikimediaEven in times of relative stability, should a personal legal, medical, or financial situation occur, having one's information entered into the STEP database can facilitate the speed with which one might gain assistance at a local U.S. embassy or consulate.

Thus, understanding enrollment in STEP to be a procedure that could prove life-saving and that generally facilitates aid when in need, GFU considers entering international travel information with STEP as an institutional "best practice" that attempts to keep our people as safe as possible.
