Berlin to Pula

Faculty: Josh Sauerwein, Seth Sikkema
Class Meeting: Monday, 6:30 - 9:00 PM

STUDENT COST: $2300

This tour will highlight the Nazi and Communist Resistance movements as they occurred throughout central and eastern Europe.  To start the tour, we will see the Berlin Wall and walk in the shoes of Dietrich Bonhoeffer as we make our way through Berlin, Finkenwalde seminary and Buchenwald concentration camp.  From there we will proceed to the culturally, historically and artistically-rich cities of Prague and Vienna where we will visit castles, cathedrals, drink heavenly coffee, interact at town markets and take in a concert.  Moving back west, we will enter the Austrian Alps and visit the visually stunning town of Salzburg.  While here we will take a bicycle ride through the story of the Von Trapp family, hike up to the Eagle’s Nest and experience a day of canyoning in the Alps.  We will end our tour on the beaches of Croatia where we will see a variety of Roman ruins, including the Pula Arena.
