Dean, College of Business

The Position:  George Fox University invites applications and nominations for the Dean of the College of Business.  The position is a 12-month administrative appointment to begin no later than July 1, 2017.

The College of Business is composed of three units, the undergraduate Business Department, the Master of Business Administration (MBA), and the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA).  The mission of the College of Business (COB) is to graduate students who are professionally competent, ethically grounded, globally engaged, socially responsive, and servant leaders. The COB is home to 20 full-time faculty members with eight undergraduate majors serving more than 350 undergraduate students, and graduate programs (MBA and DBA) with combined enrollment of over 170 students.

The Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer for the College of Business and is responsible for the following:

  • Ensuring the effective operation of the College in support of the mission and goals of the University;

  • Working with faculty, staff, students, university constituents, and business leaders to promote excellence in teaching, research and community learning;

  • Serving as an innovative and dynamic advocate for the College and its programs among diverse groups of business and community leaders, government, and with the general public;

  • Providing leadership to maintain ACBSP professional accreditation;

  • Serving as an engaged member of University leadership teams;

  • Managing the College’s budgets, fiscal planning, and external fundraising;

  • Promoting the research initiatives of the College;

  • Recruiting, supervising, developing, and evaluating faculty and staff, and

  • Articulating the importance of integrating faith and learning to all constituencies.



  • Successful leadership experience.

  • Ability to create and implement a shared vision with faculty and achieve results.

  • Earned doctorate appropriate to a College of Business and credentials suitable for a senior faculty appointment, with a record of accomplishment in teaching, scholarship, leadership, and service.

  • Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and administrators in a Christian environment, committed to the integration of faith and learning with the business disciplines.

  • Appreciation of diversity and the ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, staff, administrators, and students.

  • Commitment to professional development of faculty and staff.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Successful experience in the business world is preferred.

  • Ability to translate business principles into the academic environment.



  • Administrative leadership experience, including program planning, budget management and collegial leadership of professionals at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

  • Successfully connected the external business world to university programs and internships.

  • Managed acquisition of external funding that supports institutional goals.
