ASC CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEETING

15.2 Committee Updates

15.3 CALL TO ORDER: 4:53pm

15.4 ROLL CALL: All are present except for T. Snyder.  

NEW BUSINESS

15.5 Constitutional Amendment: Article XII, Section 1 – Bryan Kasler 

Proposal: Removing sections E and F.

Discussion:

-        Decisions:

  • Cut the section out because it doesn’t even apply.

Motion Passes: 6-0-0

15.6 Constitutional Amendment: Article 5, Section 2 – Bryan Kasler 

Proposal: An official record of the ASC Constitution, By-Laws, and standing rules shall be maintained by the Supreme Court Chief Justice and housed on the ASC website along with a record of all amendments.

Discussion:

-        Decisions

  • Having the official constitution be on the website and provide a list of new amendments.
  • Keeping the records is still important though.
  • Post the constitution on the website; have a documentation of the amendments. Keep it the same.

15.7 Constitutional Amendment: Article XVI, Section 8 – Bryan Kasler 

Proposal: Replace “including the Community Life fund,” below with: “Social Responsibility Fund”

Discussion:

-        Decisions

  • Matches current practice with constitution.
  • No replacement, just taking out what was highlighted.

Call to Amend: B. Kasler (add community life fund instead of social responsibility fund)

15.8 Constitutional Amendment: Whole Thing  – Bryan Kasler 

Proposal: Change all “Supreme Court” to “Campus Representatives Committee” and all “Supreme Court Chief Justice” to “Campus Representative Director”

Discussion:

-        Decisions

  • Makes sense with what we do and matches the format of the rest.

15.9 Constitutional Amendment: Article XVI, Section 2 – Bryan Kasler 

Proposal: Replace “3.Representative elections will be held by secret ballot” with “Representative elections will be held by an open ballot.”

Discussion:

-       Outcomes:

  • No one except the ones counting know how the vote turns out. Therefore an open vote would bring about more voters and to keep statistics for the future.

-        Decisions:

  • It makes sense because it’s that way for the community and government.

-       Actions

  • Committee is still furthering the conversation on other ways to make the numbers related to voting more open.

15.10 Constitutional Amendment: Article XVI, Sections 2 - 6 – Bryan Kasler 

Proposal: Removal of Provisional Status from the ASC Constitution and other additions.

Discussion:

-       Decisions

  • Provisional Status would be entirely gone; chartered or not at all.
  • The applying clubs would then just go to Joel Perez or current ASC Advisor who make the decision first and it would then go to the Central Committee for them to vote on it.

-       Actions

  • Tabling it to make sure it is more thorough; Joel needs to look

15.11 Constitutional Amendment: Article II, Section 4 – Bryan Kasler 

Proposal: Replace the highlighted section with “The Central Committee can take official action when a quorum (at least 2/3 of the members) are present. Electronic means of communication may constitute in a quorum.”

Discussion:

-       Outcomes:

  • Central Committee can have an official meeting through electronic means at anytime rather than being required to always meet in person.

15.12 AED Discussion – Jessica Stanton

Proposal: Reviewing the AED purchases and funding.   

Discussion:

-       Outcomes

  • Residence Life picked up the $800+ of what was needed to purchase 2 AEDs for campus.

-        Decisions

  • It would be about $1000 extra to cover what Residence Life has already paid for it.
  • ASC will not fund the extra costs that Residence Life spent.
  • The two AEDs will go in Le Shana and Bauman.

15.13 ANF: ASCAPOP Proposal – Tiffany Gilly 

Proposal: Alpha Psi Omega, the theatre honor society requests the aid of $2,250 to provide scholarships where needed and most importantly, lower the cost of travelling down to the annual theatre festival, this year held in Sacremento, CA.

Discussion:

-       Outcomes

  • There are 21 students attending and about half are nominated for a scholarship competition there.
  • This does not include professors, only students
