ASC CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEETING

 

Monday, October 29, 2012

 

10.1 PRAYER: Wesley Jones 

10.2 Committee Updates   

10.3 CALL TO ORDER: 3:40pm

10.4 ROLL CALL: All are present except Joel Perez.

NEW BUSINESS

10.5 ASC Computer Administrator – Josh Nauman

Discussion:

-       Josh Nauman and Central Committee discussed administrative powers on the ASC computers.

10.6 GO Fund Proposal – Jessica Stanton

Proposal: The additional amount of $1,500.00 be added to the GO Fund account for the

Spring Semester.

Discussion:

-       Outcomes:

  • The additional funds would come out of contingency
  • Currently, the GO Fund is first come, first serve
  • Provisional Clubs have to access the CLF because they are not chartered and then cannot

-       Decisions:

  • To have $1500/semester for the GO Fund to give clubs more financial freedom

10.7 Election Night Party – Latino Heritage Cub, College Democrats, and College Republicans    

Proposal: Three clubs and an academic department at GFU are proposing to co-host an event that will encourage students and faculty to gather during election night and experience the presidential race. The incentives of this event would be to enjoy treats and refreshments alongside professors and faculty during the election. Ideally, the hosts would receive $300 in funding to facilitate this event.

Discussion:

-       Decisions:

  • $100 would come out of the GO Fund which doesn’t need to be approved by the central committee 

-       Actions:

  • Jessica Stanton could approve the lesser amount by herself for Latino Heritage Club

10.8 Wheeler Art Project – Bryan Kasler & Jacob Guckenberger     

Proposal: We are proposing a $15,000 art initiative inside of Wheeler Athletic Center as a collaborative project between GFU Athletics, Art, and ASC. This project has several purposes, goals, and effects that are discussed in the rationale section of this proposal.

Discussion:

-       Outcomes:

  • Brings together art department and athletics
  • Design system would be active and moving that would be able to adapt to the rest of the building in time
  • ASC logo could be integrated into the art project to let people know that ASC sponsored it
  • Timeline of the project and what fund would be used was debated thoroughly

-       Decisions:

  •  Tabling it till next week to clear up miscommunications

10.9 Soup for Weekly Meeting – Quaere Verum  

Proposal: We are asking for funding to provide soup and bread at our meetings.

Discussion:

-       Outcomes:

  • Committee feels the club is being frugal about their spending.

-       Decisions:

  • Central Committee wants to amend it to $150/semester and then it does not have to be approved by CC.

10.10 CLF: Edwards Hall Pumpkin Patch

Proposal: We have the opportunity to take all of Edwards Residence Hall to Heiser Farms Pumpkin Patch. Through a connection with the owners, we have been able to get a great deal for all of our residents.

Discussion:

-       Outcomes:

  • Committee liked the idea

10.11 CLF: Main Event Proposal – Lauren Dodge

Proposal: The Main Event is planned by all five residence areas, along with a representative from commuters. The Event hosts many games and competitions where living areas compete against each other.

Discussion:

-       Outcomes:

  • Surprised they spent so much money without no guarantee of funds

-       Actions:

  • Jessica Stanton wants to get Joel Perez and Dave Johnstone in on this conversation to see both perspectives
