20.1 PRAYER: M. Vogt

20.2 Committee Updates

20.3 CALL TO ORDER: 4:21pm

20.4 ROLL CALL: All are present excluding Joel, but Mark Pothoff filling in. Sarah Cadd also joined to present on the Post Fox event.

NEW BUSINESS

20.5 ANF: Taizé Conference - A Pilgrimage of Trust – Drew Miller

Proposal: I would like to attend Taizé’s “Pilgrimage of Trust” Conference in South Dakota. Because travel to the conference will be very expensive for me, whether by car or plane, I am requesting that ASC help me by covering the $541.00 it costs to travel to the conference and the registration fee. I will be requesting support from my church and pulling from my own earning to help pay for travel fees. I will also share travel costs by carpooling with a friend to South Dakota.

Discussion:

-       Outcomes

  • Not in school, but he would still be a student next year.
  • Take summer proposals case by case.

-       Decisions

  • Financial Affairs likes to reimburse mileage not tanks of gas.
  • This would come out of this year’s budget.

-       Actions

  • Talk with Drew about the mileage.

Call to Question: J. Riedel

Seconded: T. Snyder

Motion Passes: 7-0-0

20.6 ANF: National Diversity Convention Attendance – Onjalai Flake

Proposal: I am pursuing funding to attend the National Student Leadership Diversity Convention held in New York City August 1st-August 4th, with one other student.

Discussion:

-       Decisions

  • Hard to apply if she only has one term left, but she is trying to implement it here.
  • This would be for both of them.
  • The most we could do here is amend to $510 because that is all that is left in the fund.

Motion to Amend: J. Riedel (the amount to $510.)

Seconded: M. Vogt

Amendment Passes: 7-0-0

Call to Question: T. Snyder

Seconded: J. Stanton

Motion Passes: 7-0-0

20.7 GO Fund: Salsa Dance Starter Kit – Latino Heritage Fund

Proposal: To fund food for LHC Club Meeting to our “Salsa Dance Kick Starter” on Saturday

March 9, 2013. The total Cost would be $245.

Discussion:

-       Decisions

  • This club just used money for another event they hosted.
  • It is coming a little late and we only have $50 left to give if we decided to do that.
  • This also would most likely be the LHC club attending because no one else currently knows about it.
  • We don’t have $250 to give them

Call to Question: B. Kasler

Seconded: M. Vogt

Motion Fails: 0-7-0

20.8 Business Manager Proposal – Margaret Vogt

Proposal: I would like to propose a change in stipend for the Business Manager on the Communications Committee under Public Relations. I propose a new stipend of $500 per year with 10% commission on ads sold up to $250 per semester.

Discussion:

-       Decisions

  • Half of his stipend is going to come from commissions.
  • Currently he could make up to $950.
  • This would affect the business manager this year and that’s why there is this proposal.
  • This change would motivate him to continue to get advertisements.

Call to Question: B. Kasler

Seconded: J. Riedel

Motion Passes: 7-0-0

***Wesley Jones has stepped out of the room***

20.9 GPA Grace Proposal: Wesley Jones – Wesley Jones

Proposal: To approve the candidate to run for a position on central committee for the next academic school member because of their low GPA.

Discussion:

-       Outcomes

  • Currently a senior, but returning for another year.
  • We require 3.0 GPA for Central and 2.5 GPA for everyone else.

-       Decisions

  • Each should be looked at together because they are all coming with the same issue of low GPA.
  • They’re all around a 2.8 GPA; worried about the trend.
  • We should hold the GPA standards, which is much more justifiable. Not that they couldn’t do the job, just that they don’t meet the standard.
  • GPA per semester is hard to judge by because the classes may be different.
  • This standard was made clear in the application process.
  • Look at from an employer standpoint; GPA isn’t everything.
  • It’s an all or nothing situation, but both sides are arguable.
  • The point of the standard is to show an ability of being able to balance school and other things.

Call to Question: T. Snyder

Seconded: B. Kasler

Motion Fails: 3-4-0
