30.1 CALL TO ORDER 4:50 PM

NEW BUSINESS

30.4 Academic Pursuit Fund: Tesla Coil Construction Carnival: Ja. Vanier

Proposal: $2627.69 for 20 students to work on Tesla Coil Construction Carnival and have pizza

Discussion:

-       Outcomes

  • There can be an alternative of expecting students to contribute $20

-       Decisions

  • Academic Need Fund or Community Life Fund?
    • Split Pizza & Tesla Coil Construction
  • Should have an advisor available
  • Should open the finished project to the entire student body
  • There is a part already involved in this project that freshmen already made

-       Actions

  • Amend to remove $50 for pizza  
    • Apply through CLF

Proposal stipulated to having $50 for pizza applied through the CLF and having the finished project available to watch with the entire student body

30.5 Academic Pursuit Fund: Athletic Training Convention: M. Nakashimada

Proposal: $800 for 19 Students to attend the Athletic Training Convention in Portland.

Discussion:

-       Outcomes

  • Event is next week!
  • The proposals don’t include hotel hosts; never passed with M. Nakashimada or Ju. Vanier

-       Decisions

  • We can approve the $800 but not hotel costs

-       Actions

  • They can reapply if they want hotel costs covered

30.7 Community Life Fund: Proposal: Ja. Vanier

Proposal: $500 for 50 students to work with SPIL to host “food and cultural shalom night”

Discussion:

            -Outcomes

  • Shalom still has $450 left out of their $1200 budget
  • They didn’t do a cost breakdown; proposal isn’t clear on what exactly it goes to

            -Decisions

  • No accurate cost breakdown of costs
  • Need to redo proposal to vote again

            -Actions

30.8 Tent City: Proposal: Ju. Vanier

Proposal: $1200 for doughnuts, snacks and other activities to host Tent City

Discussion:

            -Outcomes

  • No cost breakdown

-Decisions

  • Conversation needs to be had next year about ASC running Tent City
    • Also budget for Tent City under ASC President
    • Want event this year to be good
      • Include Activities? No, way too busy with other events
      • Want to do this event well     
      • Money for prizes
        • Should use money to do prizes at Election Night
        • Hot Chocolate from Bon
        • Small competitions to bump people up for top 5 tent
        • Firepit with Smores
        • Bouncy House?

Proposal: $2000 for new shoes and chalk bags for the rock-climbing wall

  • Need a breakdown of shoes
  • What shoe sizes bought, what brand etc.

  • Table until proposal is broken down
