ASC CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEETING 

Monday, November 18, 2013

16.1 CALL TO ORDER 4:36 PM

16.2 ROLL CALL: All are present including S. St. Cyr, M. Pothoff &J. Stanton

NEW BUSINESS

16.3 Ministries: Money Transfer: Ja. Vanier

Proposal: Allocating 10% of the ASC budget to SPIL for the 2014-2015 academic school year.

Discussion:

-       Outcomes

  • Spil life will be able to allocate positions and how much each is payed; next year
  • Next year ministries budget will be completely different

-       Decisions

  • Ministries is receiving 17% currently not including stipends
  •  Give them a minimum so they have a starting point
  • Budget is never the same because of the number of students
  • This is part of a larger conversation; looking at the constitution and keeping visions
  • ASC can keep the budget; but it doesn’t allow SPIL with enough freedom

-       Actions

  • Conversations about budget need to happen with SPIL before we allocate money; for future SPIL and ASC teams to honor the visions

16.4 Campus Representatives: Credit Exemption: Ja. Vanier

Proposal: K. Hauge keeping PCWB Representative position with under 12 credits.

Discussion:

-       Outcomes

  • He dropped classes after switching his major from engineering, putting him under 12 credits
  • He puts in a lot of work with ASC

-       Decisions

  • Not a constitutional vote, case vote

-       Actions

  • Keep up with him making sure he is enrolled in 17 or 18 credits
  • Have him make an action plan what he will do for all of his free time during this term- Ja. Vanier

16.5 Art Department:  Empty Bowls: Ja. Vanier

Proposal: $560 for 2,000 bowls from Empty Bowls event

Discussion:

            -Outcomes

  • Money would come from CLF? Special Projects Fund?

            -Decisions

  • Campus Reps will have to look at proposal

            -Actions

  • They need to do advertisement for the spring event where the bowls will be sold
  • Take out $560 from the CLF

16.6 Communications: Hallway Remodel: M. Clark

Proposal: $1600 to remodel the Communications Hallway.

Discussion:

            -Outcomes

  • Eventually getting door to connect ASC and Communications Hallway
  • Fixing some damage done on the walls, trim, and other spots

            -Decisions

  • This amount is ridiculous for one hallway
  • People using that hallway need a space to use
  • Come out of Special Projects Fund – or equipment budget
  • Communications hallway hasn’t been redone; ASC Office has
  • We have paint decreasing costs
  • We can look at the furniture attic decreasing costs
  • This budget is overshot; but this needs to happen fast
  • They aren’t getting paid; it’s the least we could do to say “we believe in you; thank you!” –they need a space

-Actions

  • They need to be frugal; set $1400 as a absolute max
  • Talk to plant services about the front door of the hallway to match
  • Amend to $1400

Proposal: $500 for Philippens Relief

Discussion:

            -Outcomes

  • We deleted the Social Responsibility Fund

-Decisions

  • There are many Filipino Students here

-Actions

  • Transfer $500 from Special Projects Fund
