10.1 CALL TO ORDER 4:25 PM

10.2 ROLL CALL: All are present including S. St. Cyr, E. Caudillo (Creative Director), C. Gray (Student Organizations Director)

NEW BUSINESS

10.3 Student Organizations: New Club

Proposal: Make The Write Way club official

Discussion:

-       Outcomes

  • Associated with Faith Bible high school

-       Decisions

  • Great that C. Gray met with them already and application looks great

-       Actions

10.4 Student Organizations: New Club Proposal: C. Gray

Proposal: Make GFU Disc Golf club official

Discussion:

-       Outcomes

  • Make sure advisor is cleared
  • Club needs to be student run

-       Decisions

  • They are not George Fox people; someone needs to endorse the club as a GFU employee
  • S. St. Cyr can sign off as official advisor
  • Advisor is under GFU lifestyle contract, there’s importance in that role
  • Advisor needs to be someone that will check in with club, so S. St. Cyr can’t do it

-       Actions

  • Re-evaluate advisor position for this club

10.6 Activities Committee: Blue Zone: M. Kimmer

Proposal: Create a position for Blue Zone Coordinator costing $900

Discussion:

  • Great events happening soon with Blue Zone

            -Decisions

  • Needed to have someone take initiative of half time shows, tailgating, and other events

10.7 Academic Pursuit Fund: Proposal: M. Tarpley

Proposal: $4741.81-$5141.87 to aid a student to student abroad in Lithuania

Discussion:

            -Outcomes

  • Pretty clear that this isn’t what the funds should be used for
  • Wish we could help him monetarily
  • Student thought about fundraising, but parents didn’t want him to

            -Decisions

  • Cannot afford housing in Newberg, same in Lithuania
  • This goes under cost of school, although it’s above and beyond normal school, and is an experience, it is still school costs
  • A lot of students here are struggling to pay for school
  • This is not what the funds are for
    • He is understanding that it is a long shot

            -Actions

Proposal: $360 for coffee budgets with Peer to Peer relationships

Discussion:

            -Outcomes

  • Prepaid cards
  • Peer Advisors get paid, and also have a budget to buy coffee
  • Peer to Peer don’t get paid by any means
  • Under Jamie N. in SPIL currently

            -Decisions

  • We need to do some research about the program and how they get paid
  • SPIL gets 10% but they need more budget allocation for Peer to Peer
    • Maybe this shouldn’t come out of CLF, but there should be budget in SPIL for this purpose

            -Actions

  • Table until we figure out where university funds are

Proposal: $120 for a Madden tournament affecting 26 students

Discussion:

  • Sly way of buying Madden for students
    • Hilarious! Didn’t even ask for snacks or anything

            -Decisions

  • This isn’t a long term-thing for Sutton
    • Not a long-term community system
    • Some student is going to end up getting a free video game

            -Actions

Proposal: $146.25 for 15 students to go get dessert in Portland for a floor event

  • CLF gas policy?
    • Policy has changed every year
    • Should we be funding a big fancy event?
      • We fund paintball for girls
      • We are still doing less than $10/person

  • Disclude gas costs

  • University should talk to Plant Services about surrounding area of statue
