NEW BUSINESS

11.3 Academic Pursuit Fund: Proposal: M. Tarpley

Proposal: $270 for one (1) student to go to Friends Summit in California

  • Would this be considered academic pursuit if it’s outside your major?
    • Quaker is such a part of everything about our university, it’s good they are moving forward

Proposal: $1800 for three (3) students to attend Sigma Tau Delta English Honors Society Convention

Discussion:

            -Outcomes

  • Three students are being funded through the English Department

            -Decisions

  • What do you think about students fundraising?
    • Camps Reps don’t think transportation especially flights should be paid for by ASC
    • We should wait for M. Tarpley until we establish future policies about fundraising
    • We should set up a future policy so ASC can match the money
    • Make sure they are getting the best deals for housing and everything
    • $30/day for food is pretty spendy
      • They could spend much less
      • Cut food and half travel

11.6 Student Organizations: New Club Proposal: M. Tarpley

Proposal: $2100 for Amnesty International Budget for 2014-15 year

Discussion:

            -Outcomes

  • Club wanted to get conference covered in club budget
  • They put a proposal in the APF for the same conference, they’re sneaky!

            -Decisions

  • Club budget is not broken down
  • They don’t have a precise plan of how to spend their money
  • $200 for food? When will that be spent?

            -Actions

  • Need more specific information before passing
  • Need details for M. Tarpley

Proposal: $419.06 for a new ping-pong table

  • There is about $9000 for FoxHole budget, which can be used for anything downstairs at this point

  • We need to figure out how to manage the sports equipment i.e. paddles, balls etc.

            -Actions

  • M. Rooney will work with equipment rentals

Proposal: $466 + Shipping for new wheels on the victory bell

  • Need to figure out if this is the best fund for this to come out of

  • Should figure out new policies for SPF so students can apply all year round

            -Actions

  • Let’s wait to talk to M. Tarpley, and talk about which funds we will use

      • Feel bad spending students money on something straight beneficial for us
        • They’re not anywhere else on campus for student use
        • Not needed, we need to stop making the office just for us and think more future teams
        • You could buy an entire computer or something instead
