12.4 Student Organizations: Budget Proposal: M. Tarpley

Proposal: $1040 for 2014-15 Nursing Club budget

Discussion:

-       Outcomes

  • They reworked their budget, already approved but we need to reapprove

12.5 Resident Life: Proposal: J. Vanier

Proposal: $2353.51 for a new AED located in Sutton

Discussion:

-       Outcomes

  • We have to have a certain amount on campus
  • The school’s gotten bigger, it needs to happen

-       Decisions

  • Proposal is not very clear, has been on the table for over a year
  • Talk to student life and see why they haven’t worked into their budget
  • If budgets aren’t available, it would be okay to fund
    • There is a student project fund proposal for an AED in Bauman
  • One full AED plus parts for another AED

-       Actions

  • D. Johnstone should come talk to ASC next week

  • More itemized budgets will show when they turn in receipts for food

12.7 Academic Pursuit Fund: Proposal: M. Tarpley

Proposal: $1800 for three (3) students to attend Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society Conference in New Mexico

Discussion:

            -Outcomes

  • M. Tarpley met with students
    • English department is paying for other students to go hand picked by faculty

            -Decisions

  • We need to decide a procedure for approving this money
  • Maybe amend travel costs and food costs
    • Travel costs, they vary so much we need to make some guidelines on percentage, caps, or fundraise
    • Put a cap on flights to make it fair for everyone
  • Registration should be covered under this fund
  • Food you will need some sort of funding
    • Is food fair for student dollars?
  • Matching the fundraising
  • Campus Reps don’t think ASC should cover travel
  • What is this fund for?
    • Help students grow in career and find things they’re passionate about

  • M. Tarpley move forward to coming up with an APF guideline, and move forward in approving that with the Campus Reps

12.8 Student Project Fund: Proposal: M. Tarpley

Proposal: $466 plus shipping to replace the wheels on the victory bell

Discussion:

            -Outcomes

  • It’s really bad getting the bell out onto the field right now, it doesn’t turn

            -Decisions

  • We’ve already invested into this project
  • If it’s really hard and bad to drive then we should replace it
  • Seem really expensive wheels
  • This is a maintenance cost
    • We bought new routers last year, should we spend more money making them better?
    • If we pull the bell anywhere else besides the football field, we need to get new wheels
    • Would this come out of Student Project Fund?
      • Then we’d technically be going around the student project fund application
      • Contingency should not be the place we should be jumping
      • We have $29,000 unallocated
      • Need to find where to pay for with maintenance costs
      • Do we need to make a maintenance fund for SPF?
        • Think that will end up being un allocated
        • Wouldn’t that just be the contingency fund?
        • Set amount for shipping

  • They need more members, cause M. Dyment signed as a member
    • We can pass with stipulation that they get another member
    • R. Baker also signed this petition

Proposal: $410 for 41 students to make Thanksgiving dinner

  • Why can’t they make their own?

  • You could buy their own food and make it, and it would be very cheap
  • Weird date, confused on why they said there’s a deadline for this event, did they put the wrong month?

Proposal: Approve Final ASC Budget

Discussion:

  • Late Night Den
  • Stipends Decrease
  • Move Student Organizations under Executive VP

            -Decisions

  • About $29,000 not allocated
    • Commuter space renovation
    • Would need lots of planning and wouldn’t happen soon, but Student Life and ASC could partner in it
    • Blue Zone will be under activities
    • Will propose something bigger for commuter rep budget increase

            -Actions

  • Meet with T. Rene if you have concerns about your budget and want to change
    • Would be good for everyone on CC to meet with T. Rene to see where they’re at
    • This budget will go over to financial affairs if approved

    • Use it as an experience to meet other students
    • Time management for CC members
