-       Outcomes

-       Decisions

  • Abby’s pizza is very expensive
  • Veterans have potential strong community on campus

-       Actions

  • Domino’s has a buy-one-get-one with the Fox Serve Day Card
  • Reps can talk about ways to cut money

13.4 Academic Pursuit Fund: Proposal: M. Tarpley

Proposal: $943.20 for two students to attend the Society of Biblical Literature Annual Conference in San Diego, CA for three (3) days

Discussion:

-       Outcomes

  • Other students applying for the same conference but are asking for less, because they found a cheaper flight
  • Other students got their proposal in earlier

-       Decisions

  • Do we want to talk about this now or talk about procedures for APF?
    • SPU pays max $350/student for APF
      • Conference registration costs first, then other travel costs
      • Don’t pay for food
      • Only pay fuel for over 100 miles away
      • If there are multiple students going to a conference, they only allocate $1100 to that specific conference
      • Pay up to 2/3 of registration fees but capped at $350
      • Brings up bigger concern of the constitution
        • Is it okay that the constitution keeps being so fluid and changing?
          • Every year student government is different and the students are different
          • The point of amending the constitution is to promote radical change, we shouldn’t be changing it without a lot of constitution
          • All amendments have to start at campus reps, and should be moved up
          • Should not be treated as play-doh
          • What are times that it is most important to not change?
          • Do you want to work for the constitution or for students?
          • Procedure Discussion
            • Are we helping the travel costs or providing travel costs?
            • Set a max on food
              • Don’t think we should pay for food, but we can still use discretion
            • Cap proposals for registration fee and the rest will be on their own discretion
              • Could be misused, should be an itemized proposal
            • We can approve more or less of each cap
            • $10/day for food?
            • Put a cap on the entire budget per person
            • We should have them submit per person?
              • There are some big proposals though
  • With these new guidelines, this set this proposal at $870

-       Actions

  • Procedures
    • Pay for/use discretion for registration fee
    • Cap travel at $200/person
    • Cap food at $10/day with max of $50/day

Discussion:

-       Outcomes

-       Decisions

  • Did small math to figure out if it fits in new APF guidelines
  • Hotel is cheap because they’re staying in large room
  • Think in consideration of individual student fees of $220 but with APF it’s good to keep in mind the caps, so that we’re not overspending on individual students

-       Actions

  • Put everything under the new cap stipulation

-       Outcomes

  • Didn’t realize ASC paid for the uninstalled AED

-       Decisions

  • We should finish out that AED that was purchased
  • Not installment through Dave, but further the proposal for new AED that was put in in the Student Project Fund
    •  We could place Dave’s proposal in Bauman, and change the SPF proposal to place in Sutton
  • Could be taken out of Social Responsibility Fund

-       Actions
