-          Decisions

  • Do we think this is our role?
  • Social responsibility
  • Wouldn’t want to set president for future
  • So many students talking about wanting scholarships- future conversation
  • Student Emergency was cut out of ASC budget because Student Life has their own fund, and ASC shouldn’t be knowing extensive information about students.
  • Not healthy for us to be talking about people’s issues, we shouldn’t be knowing this information.
  • Maybe next year send some of our budget to Student Emergency Fund
  • Match this one time, figure out fund in future

19.7 Elections: Exemption Proposal: J. Vanier

Proposal: E. Lopez to run for Executive VP while studying abroad during elections

Discussion:

-          Outcomes

  • She will be in Spain spring semester
  • Willing to Skype in any  meeting/events
  • Will be back June 14 and in Newberg for the summer

-          Decisions

  • Article III Section1 Section D: states they must be on Newberg campus. There are no stipulations for Central Committee or advisor making exceptions
  • Advisor and the Reps need to be involed
  • Reps would need to go through constitutional amendments
  • Add “ASC CC/Advisor can allow exceptions”
  • With all eleigibility consitutions, it would be good to have reps involved, CC is very biased
    • Reps is election committee though
  • If exception is made Reps should be a part of it
  • Someone needs to submit amendment to Reps
    • Have E. Lopez do it
  • Talk of Executive VP and President running separately vs. together
    • VP feels like she has to keep mouth shut a lot to not go against President on certain topics
    • Don’t know what it means for VP to “support” President
    • Everyone on team should be on same team
    • If we did choose to have them be separate, we should change the name of VP
    • Nervous to have them run separate. Can’t rely on only one person to bring a whole team together
    • VP should be OK with not agreeing
    • VP & President- how do both our perspectives help the team perspective?
    • How do we encourage the right people to run?
    • Will have tons of election talk next semester
    • We can’t vote because it’s not constitutional to make an exemption yet
