DISCUSSION

  • Funds oversight
    • Commuter Representatives and Multicultural Representatives are too small of committees to oversee an entire fund just by themselves
    • Commuter Representatives oversee CLF, Multicultural over Social Responsibility Fund
    • It would be better to join together to approve such proposals
    • This is a different constitutional change
      • Technically, we can’t make an amendment to the operations manual until the end of the semester
      • This semester is a trial run for the way this works
      • We need to vote to amend the trial
        • Vote to amend that Multicultural Reps can vote on the CLF, and Commuter Representatives can vote on the SRF
        • This allows for these two committees to vote on both the funds
        • We don’t want the constitution to be a fluid model
        • This is still a trail period that will be reevaluated at the end of the semester

Call to Question: M. Peterson

Second: Z. Larsen

Motion Passes: 7-0-0

  • ASC in the activities fair during scholarship weekend
  • Bachelor in the Foxhole
    • Too controversial for us to be promoting
    • People can still watch it down there, because there is cable, but ASC shouldn’t promote it
      • It could bring a lot of community, or conversation because so many people watch this show and it brings people together
      • Different shows bring different communities
        • Both representatives who brought this idea up are minorities
  • We don’t show any other shows
    • ASC shouldn’t just have one show promoted
      • Are we going to say that about all events as well?
  • If we promoted shows, it would be inclusive because it’s inviting everyone to watch together in the FoxHole
  • FoxHole space- maybe commuters need more structure for events
    • Maybe in the ASC weekly we can advertise that people can get funding for showings or anything in the FoxHole, for food or whatever to bring together
    • Students should initiate more events in the FoxHole- it’s their space
    • Maybe we should invite Peer Advisors
    • In ASC survey, we could survey to see which shows could come up at Fox Hole
      • Facebook poll could happen about season show to watch
      • Ask representatives about which shows they’d like to see in the FoxHole
        • We can ask round table as well
          • We need to ask more, not just about a TV show
          • Club’s Week Recap
            • Every night was a lot of work
            • But it was awesome for the first week of school
              • Not for Spring semester because it’s way too cold
              • But it’s so hard to advertise for the first week of school
                • But then we could have awesome start off for clubs
                  • Hard for the clubs to be going strong at the beginning of the year
  • Second week of school would be prime
  • Foam
    • A company running it would be a lot better
    • Clubs need to feel more part of ASC
    • New York Times Online Membership
      • K. Webster will talk to Merrill in the library
      • Intentional Cross-Cultural Engagement
        • We need to be encouraging every type of student to run for leadership position
        • We tend to stick together with people we feel comfortable with
        • Our leaders on campus need to be more diverse
        • Start personally cultivating these thoughts, then reaching out to others
        • 90’s Dance
        • Survivor Van
          • Figuring out money prizes
