ASC Minutes: 11-17-2015

ASC CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEETING

Tuesday, November 17, 2013

12.1 CALL TO ORDER 4:21 PM

12.2 ROLL CALL: All are present including S. St. Cyr

12.3 PRAYER: K. Webster

Student Project Fund was voted on by it’s committee, filtered through proposals that were not feasible or sustainable. Such projects that were eliminated include:

  • Street lights
  • Bulletin board in Brandt
  • Emergency Blue Light System
  • LeShana rooftop garden & seating area
  • New dance studio
  • Mini-golf course on campus
  • Black box theater
  • New toilets
  • Student recording studio

Ping-pong tables & SPIL cymbals were paid for out of the Student Project Fund already- and should have been paid out of last year’s budget. Therefore, dipping into contingency ($12,000) for extra project we want to see in fruition would be OK.

We need to decide if we want to approve the big projects (RedBox & Sun Room) and a few small projects, or a lot of small projects

  • Would rather do all small projects to affect more students

The only way these projects will happen is if Executive VP, E. Lopez, partners with the students who proposed the projects, and follows through extremely proactively

  • We have much faith in her

A lot of these projects will not be done this year because Plant Services is so backed up

ASC projects should have a “brought to you by ASC”

Exit D. Bogert

12.4 Student Project Fund: Proposal: E. Lopez

Proposal: $11,580 for drinking fountains

Discussion:

-       Outcomes

  • $2895 each
  • Good idea to have a flat rate going towards the water fountains, because there’s a high cost for electricity, sheetrock, etc.

-       Decisions

  • Obviously a very high wanted idea
  • Should fund the one in the library
  • Should fund all the dorm ones, not just selective dorms
  • $8000-9000 flat rate? $10,000
