How to Create a New Publication

How to Create a New Publication

Checklist for clients:

Plan ahead to start your project on time. The standard turnaround time is four to six weeks. Depending on the job's complexity and stages involved, many publications take eight weeks or longer to produce;

Submit a job request online. If an event involves multiple items (such as invitations, brochures, and posters), submit a separate job request for each item;

Submit unformatted text and/or photos and other artwork by the deadline assigned after we receive your job request;

Promptly coordinate the approval of all appropriate purchase orders;

Carefully proofread, sign, and return all proofs to communications by the date written on the publications proof form; and

Upon receipt of your completed project, return the publication evaluation form and keep samples.
Print this checklist

Office of Marketing and Communications will:

Confirm receipt of your job and create a timeline for the project;

Evaluate project and provide consultation with the client when necessary;

Copyedit your text and, if necessary, provide additional editorial assistance;

Design a professional publication;

Provide proofs to you;

Send your project to Mail Services for approval, if it is to be mailed;

Submit a purchase request for the printing or other costs;

Send your job to the printer most suitable for your project;

Receive your job from the printing firm; and

Keep 10 original samples of all projects.
