George Fox University has a site license for Symantec's Norton Antivirus program for Windows computers. This license covers all university-owned computers, as well as all student- and employee-owned computers either on campus or at home. Here's how to get and install the software:
From on-campus
For employee computers, contact the Service Desk to have Norton Antivirus installed. The employee install includes connection to the on-campus server for automatic delivery of the latest virus definitions.
For student or personally-owned computers connected on-campus, point your Web browser to http://techsupport.georgefox.edu and follow the directions to uninstall any current antivirus programs, then install Norton Antivirus. This install is configured to update itself automatically when connected to the Internet.
From off-campus
Visit the Service Desk to check out an installation CD overnight. You will need to present your GFU ID card.
Macintosh users
Our site-license does not include the Macintosh version of Norton Antivirus. We can install the Macintosh version on university-owned computers for $20. Contact the Service Desk and include an account number to charge for the install.
A limited number of licenses are available for student or home computers at $20. Contact the Service Desk to purchase a license.
