Interlibrary Loan Service is provided when George Fox University faculty, staff and currently enrolled students, need materials not in the George Fox University library collections or the Summit catalog. Books, journal articles, and other library resources are provided for George Fox patrons from other libraries within the United States. Can I request Interlibrary Loan Service if I am not a faculty member, staff member or currently enrolled student? No. George Fox University alumni, community patrons and pastors should request interlibrary loan service from their local library. When can I request Interlibrary Loan Service? You can request interlibrary loan service if the George Fox University libraries and Summit libraries do not own the library materials you need or the materials you need are checked out. For books, please check the George Fox University library catalog (FoxTrax) and then check the Summit catalog. If your book is not available at George Fox or through Summit, please submit an interlibrary loan request. For journal articles, go to the journal title search button in the library catalog. If the print journal is not available at your home library or the electronic journal is not available in one of the George Fox full-text databases then submit an interlibrary loan request. How long does it take to fill an interlibrary loan request? Most journal articles are filled electronically and made accessible online in an average of two-four business days. Books shipped from within the United States may take up to two to three weeks to arrive. How do I know when my library requests are filled? You will receive a notice via e-mail that your article has arrived. You can check the status of your requests by logging in to the GFU interlibrary loan service. If your article request has been filled, you will be able to download it. You will receive a hold pickup notice via e-mail when your book request has arrived. Or you can check the status of your request by logging in to the GFU interlibrary loan service page. Distance students may have their items mailed to their home address or delivered to their off-campus site, upon request. Are there charges for Interlibrary Loan Service? Most requests are processed for free. If a fee is required, the library covers the first $17.50 of any single item. Students, faculty and staff are always notified before any costs are incurred and may cancel the request if not wanting to pay the difference. If you have questions, call the Newberg campus interlibrary loan department at 503-554-2423. |
