Grants & Scholarships

Federal and State Grant Programs

The Federal Pell Grant is funded by the federal government.  Funds are awarded to high need students based on results from the FAFSA.  Eligibility for the Pell Grant is set by the federal government. 

The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) is awarded to high need students according to eligibility standards set by the federal government. Funds from this program are available only to students who file the FAFSA and demonstrate extremely high need. Awards may be limited due to availability of funds.

The Oregon Opportunity Grant (OOG) program is funded through The Oregon Student Assistance Commission (OSAC). This grant is generally awarded to high need students as determined by the FAFSA, policies set by OSAC and who are residents of the State of Oregon. 


University Grants

George Fox University awards university grants to students who demonstrate need when filing the FAFSA. If eligible on the basis of financial need, a student may receive a George Fox Need Grant as well as federal, state and other university funds.


Merit Scholarships

Merit scholarships are awarded by the Admissions office at the time of acceptance to the university. Merit scholarships are renewable as long as students maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.


Scholarship Competition Awards

Freshmen and new transfer students compete for additional academic scholarships during the Scholarship Competition that is held each February. This is an invitation only event, contact your Admission counselor for more information. Visit Scholarship Competition for eligibilty and renewal requirements.


Participation Scholarships

Freshmen and new transfer students can also apply for participation scholarships that do not have a major requirement. The participation scholarships are not a part of Scholarship Competition.


External Scholarship Information

External scholarships must be counted as part of your total financial aid award.  These can be reported to your financial aid counselor through your MyGFU.

There are many scholarship opportunities for students from sources outside George Fox University.  Students can locate scholarships through online searches.  Students should never pay a fee in order to apply for a scholarship.
