Student Employment

Federal Student Employment (workstudy) is awarded to students with financial need. This program is partially funded by the federal government.  Employment may be an on-campus job, or an off campus job with a not-for-profit social service organization. Students work on average 10 hours per week during the academic year.   Recipients are paid monthly for hours worked.  These earnings are subject to state and federal withholding and must be reported by students who file income tax returns.

Students should not plan on workstudy pay as a resource until they have acquired a position.  Students can contact their student account specialist if they would like to set up an automatic payment from their workstudy earnings. 

There are a limited number of jobs (about 700) available at George Fox, fewer than the number of students with student employment awards. Receiving this award does not guarantee a job.

Student Financial Services awards student employment and the Human Resources Office manages the program.  Applications and all available jobs are posted online via Bruin Careers on your MyGFU portal.
