Hiding Place/Quiet Place

The Hiding Place & Quiet Place provide space for Christian spiritual rest and renewal away from the busyness of everyday life. The serenity and natural beauty of Tilikum’s outdoor setting invites you to reflect on the wonders of God’s creation as you take time to study, pray, meditate, reflect, and share.

Quiet Place
Nestled in the trees at the edge of a meadow, this A-frame provides a view of the lake and meadow, with towering trees overhead.

• Day use facility, available for individuals
• Small desk, chair, reading bench, electric lights and heat, and outhouse

Hiding Place
Offering scenic views of the lake and woods, the Hiding Place is a simple one-room cabin with windows on three sides of the hexagon and quiet spaces surrounding.

• Overnight or day use, perfect for individual or couple
• Amenities include: propane heat, full-size hide-a-bed sofa and linens, battery-powered light, small kitchenette with propane stove, sink with pump water, ice box, dishes, cooking utensils, table and outhouse. Shower facilities are available on the grounds.
• The Hiding Place is accessible by walking approximately 300 yards from parking space next to the barn. Driving to the Hiding Place may be available seasonally. Check with staff upon arrival.

There is no fee to use either The Hiding or Quiet Place, but donations for the care and upkeep of the facilities are appreciated.

Guidelines and Policies

• Alcoholic beverages, non-prescribed drugs, weapons, personal sports equipment and recreational vehicles are not allowed on the grounds.
• Pets are not permitted on the grounds.
• Smoking is permitted in designated outside areas only. See a staff member for locations.
• Lifejackets are required for all boaters.
• Swimming is permitted only under the supervision of a Tilikum approved certified lifeguard.
• Tilikum reserves the right to determine who is allowed to use these facilities.
• Tilikum and/or George Fox University is held safe and harmless, and absolved from any responsibility and all claims arising from the incident, injury, or damage suffered by person or persons using Tilikum’s grounds.
