The IDEA Center coaches students to recognize their God-given uniqueness, maximize their academic and experiential learning, develop life-long career skills and enhance their transition to the world of work. We focus on student success both in academics and in career skill development, calling students to fully utilize their four years and three summers to develop skills and knowledge that will make them employable in their target field. We provide guidance in using current resources and programming that enable students to reach their after-college goals.
One-credit online courses help students as they matriculate through their course work:
- GEED 214 Emerging Professional I: Majors (freshmen and sophomores)
- GEED 216 Emerging Professional II: Internships (sophomores and juniors)
- GEED 218 Emerging Professional III: Employment (juniors and seniors)
Career counseling and guidance includes individual appointments and drop-ins, Career Conversations and the online Sigi3 computer career-guidance system.
Assistance in cover letter and resume writing, interviewing, skills assessment, e-portfolio and website building are offered through the premier Optimal Resume System. BruinCareers on MyGFU/Resources/Career Services provides summer job listings, volunteer and internship opportunities, and student employment positions.
The IDEA Center is open all year long and is located on the first floor of the Stevens Center.
