From the Executive Director
This week I will have the opportunity to talk with young working moms about the realities and challenges in their lives. What does it mean to be a working mom? How do parents successfully integrate their work lives with their personal lives? How do parents compartmentalize in order to be efficient and effective? More...
A Note From Parent Council
Fall semester is nearly complete and our kids are ready to come home for some much- needed rest and relaxation (remember those dreaded finals?) The holiday semester break is a great time to reconnect with our GFU students and get the exciting end- of- semester scoop and preview of the upcoming spring semester. It's also a great opportunity to spend quality time with our kids and enjoy holiday- related activities together. More...
An Era of Shoulder Pads
Recently, a group of students approached me with an intriguing question: "Did you ever wear clothes with shoulder pads?" I looked back with curiosity and wondered where this question came from. "Yes," I answered. "In fact, I still have a few suits that have shoulder pads." They gasped slightly in shock and their eyes were wide. My cheeks were mildly blushed, and I questioned them as to why they asked. More...

Winter Serve Trips
Twin Rocks
Twin Rocks is a camp located on the ocean just outside Rockaway Beach in Northern Oregon. We will be sending a team for the week to serve the camp in various work projects. The team will be able to help in outdoor maintenance, upkeep, indoor cleaning, and many other needs that camps have to keep running. In the past, we have painted, built a bridge, and done various yard work. The team will also have a great time having fun, being in fellowship, and community.
Portland
This serve trip will be an awesome opportunity to serve in our own city. The team will be staying at a church in Portland to work with several non-profit organizations that serve the homeless. During the day, they will be doing work projects in Portland such as serving the Union Gospel Mission and City Team, which are heavily focused on the rehabilitation of the inner city homeless population. At night, they will spend time with the homeless and go on prayer walks in both Portland and Salem.
Seattle
The Seattle team will be working with the hurting and broken homeless community. They will learn how to serve in various opportunities including working in missions and soup kitchens. The team will spend the week being open to love on these people as well as being open to learn from them. This trip will spend a lot of time serving people who are not used to being loved.

Kaleo is for people who engage with youth - pastors, parents, teachers, and friends. We invite you to explore how mentoring works.
