A Primer on the Liberal Arts
I have coined the phrase "liberally-arted" when I speak with our students who are obtaining a liberal arts degree at George Fox. Some have a keen understanding of what it means and others get that "blank look" when asked about it. Peter Vogt in the College Journal notes, "Liberal arts graduates sometimes don't buy the idea that they have salable skills - especially when they see students in such … majors as computer science, accounting and finance being courted by employers as early as the summer before their senior year." Selah Women's Conference
Attention all George Fox mothers! The fourth annual Selah women's conference will be held at George Fox University on Saturday, September 29, 2007. This year the conference is called Uncovering Joy. The conference is about our journey to wholeness, and will help us see ourselves as the beloved of Jesus Christ and as women who live in the freedom of hope, even when we are facing circumstances that threaten to steal our joy. Auxiliary Bazaar
During Family Weekend the George Fox University Auxiliary offers a wonderful holiday bazaar to raise money for student scholarships. If you would like to donate handcrafts or artwork to the bazaar, or sell on consignment, please contact Danya Ochsner by October 26, 2007 or 503-554-2121.
